The ideas or observation that stood out for me from this week’s assignments and discussion was what Eugene said in the forum on the switch of perspective on the internet. The internet was once seen as only for “nerds and geeks”, and now you’re seen as “hip” if you’re into the internet and all of its evolving sites or networks. I think what should be added is that your “hipness” is also depended on what digital technology you use, and one only needs to look into the PC vs. Mac commercials to see that.
Although I’m familiar with blogging and such, I’m still getting use to ning. I see it as as site that takes features from others sites we as students use in our lives, like Facebook and D2L, that having them in one site can take a bit to get used to. I’ve been running behind on assignments because of my busy schedule so I haven’t been done a good job in keeping myself in schedule, but I do my best to put aside at least an hour a date to get through the assignments each week. This week I’m going to try to achieve to work on the assignments.
My suggestion to make class discussion even more engaging is maybe using something one of the students have mentioned in class that you find intriguing or relevant to the subject, and then encourage the class to write their thoughts on it.
